Part Time Jobs Tips

Before joining in, figure out your actual income by subtracting your total expenses (travel costs, wardrobe, etc.) from your total projected earnings, and then divide by the number of hours you will work.

Apply for a part-time job early, before the start-of-school rush.

Make sure that your employer is ready to be flexible with your class and exam schedule.

Look for jobs that allow you to study while you work. If you can get two hours of studying done while working four hours, that's similar to increasing your wage by 50 percent.

If you have a summer or part-time job with a large company in your hometown, see if there's an opening with the same company in the city where you'll be going to school.

Deposit all your tips in the bank as soon as you get them. It will spare you the temptation of spending the money and enable you to earn certain interest later.

Ask if your employer will automatically deposit your pay to your bank account, which allows your money to start accumulating interest right from payday, and will help you to avoid bouncing cheques.

If you are working part time, always keep an eye out for a better job. Becoming settled in a part-time job can sometimes be hazardous to your wealth.

Watch for changes in your employer's financial situation. If the company falls on rough times, you want to avoid being stuck with un cashable pay cheques.
